The Parable of a Lamp Under a Basket - Matt 5:14-16; Mk 4:21,22; Lk 8:16,17; Lk 11:33-36

Luke 8:16-17 "No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light. For nothing is hidden, that will not be revealed; nor anything secret, that will not be known and come to light."

Luke 11:33-36 "No man, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar, nor under a basket, but on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness. If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light."

People light lamps when it is dark, and do so in order to see. But there are those who prefer darkness.
"Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil." John 3:19

Being enlightened by the truth of the Bible leads to enlightened behavior. But rejecting the truth leads to condemnation. Christians should be characterized as people of truth.
"If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." 1John 1:6,7

Even if we claim to be enlightened, but darkness characterizes our lifestyle, then such is indicative that we have yet to be born of God.
"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness." 1John 2:9

Though some responded well, Jesus was subject to much persecution because he exposed people's sinfulness to the light. In a dark place, it doesn't take a particularly bright lamp to reveal truth. When it is very dark, even a dim lamp can be seen very far. Why would Christians hide their lamps? To avoid persecution. Christians often compromise in inappropriate ways with the world by covering truth. The world prefers darkness. So some Christians cover their lamps. But Jesus teaches that we shouldn't be so overly concerning to people's reaction to truth.

Lampstands are used to make the light more prominent. An example of a lampstand is an institutional church. Jesus calls seven institutional churches "lampstands" in Rev 1:20. They are supposed to facilitate the light getting out, but too often are more interesting in investing in fancy lampshades to cover themselves, which hinders the light. Jesus was so exasperated with a number of such churches that he threatened to simply shut them down. "The eye is the lamp of the body" in that our perception affects our whole behavior. If you cannot perceive what is true, just, and holy, then your lifestyle will be characterized by darkness, both mentally and morally.

But realize also that people who are spiritually blind are not innocent victims, but have become that way by responding to what God has revealed to them in an inappropriate manner.
"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-- his eternal power and divine nature-- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened." Rom 1:18-21

Let this also be a warning to us, who claim to be children of light. For if we don't respond properly to what God reveals to us, our spiritual maturity and effectiveness will be hindered.

Just As I Am-Brian Doerksen

JUST AS I AM - Charlotte Elliott

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Miss Charlotte Elliott was visiting some friends in the West End of London, and there met the eminent minister, César Malan. While seated at supper, the minister said he hoped that she was a Christian. She took offense at this, and replied that she would rather not discuss that question. Dr. Malan said that he was sorry if had offended her, that he always liked to speak a word for his Master, and that he hoped that the young lady would some day become a worker for Christ. When they met again at the home of a mutual friend, three weeks later, Miss Elliott told the minister that ever since he had spoken to her she had been trying to find her Saviour, and that she now wished him to tell her how to come to Christ. “Just come to him as you are,” Dr. Malan said. This she did, and went away rejoicing. Shortly afterward she wrote this hymn.

EU’s Equality Plans Will 'Silence' Christians, Warns Legal Group

A Christian legal group is warning that the EU’s proposed Equal Treatment Directive will "silence" Christians and undermine their ability to profess their faith.

The EU's Equal Treatment Directive seeks to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief and sexual orientation.

A Christian legal group is warning that the EU’s proposed Equal Treatment Directive will silence Christians and undermine their ability to profess their faith.

Christian Concern for our Nation (CCFON) said the directive had the potential to be used as an “instrument of cultural genocide” and persecution against Christians.

“Its provisions are likely to restrict Christian freedoms to the extent that, in certain cases, we would be silenced and prevented from providing goods or services to the public without violating our consciences, particularly if required to promote other religions or the practice of homosexuality,” said director Andrea Minichiello Williams.

The directive seeks to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, and sexual orientation in the provision of goods and services in each of the EU’s 27 member states.

CCFON warned that under the directive, businesses and employees risked being sued for harassment if they failed to provide a good or service in instances where it contravened their religious beliefs.

“This will cast a chilling shadow over free speech and freedom of expression for Christians, as it will for those with any views that challenge the prevailing ‘politically correct’ ideology,” said Ms Williams.

She went on to warn that the directive failed to provide protection for the freedom to follow one’s religious conscience and balancing mechanisms to arbitrate between competing sets of rights, such as the right of a homosexual to practise his lifestyle against the right of a Christian to refuse to facilitate the practise.

Ms Williams said that the CCFON was already dealing with cases of Christians being suspended under similar equality laws in the UK, including the case of a homelessness officer in London who was dismissed for suggesting to a terminally ill client that she try putting her faith in God.

Christians in healthcare, education, housing, and religious associations all stand to be affected by the directive, which requires a unanimous vote by all member states to be passed.

“We believe that member states should veto the directive,” said Ms Williams. “Please pray that it will not be passed and encourage a Christian campaign across Europe to ‘say a loud no to the EU Equal Treatment Directive’ before it’s too late.”

Obama Needs Prayers Amid Growing Hostility

Obama needs prayers amid growing hostility
by Colbert I. King - Sept. 18, 2009 12:00 AM
The Washington Post

On Aug. 16, pastor Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe told his congregation he prays for the death of President Obama. In his sermon "Why I Hate Barack Obama," Anderson preached: "I'm not going to pray for his good, I'm going to pray he dies and goes to hell."

Anderson is not the only man of the cloth to wish widowhood upon Michelle Obama. In June, the Rev. Wiley Drake of First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., said he was praying for Obama's death.

Anderson, however, was explicit in his wish: "I'd like him to die of natural causes. I don't want him to be a martyr; we don't need another holiday. I'd like to see him die, like Ted Kennedy, of brain cancer."

I pray God will not answer their petitions. While I'm at it, I'm going to send up one for the people of the Secret Service who endeavor to protect the nation's 44th president and his family.

There's something loose in the land, an ugliness and hatred directed toward Barack Obama, the nation's first African-American president, that takes the breath away. The thread of resentment is woven through conservative commentary, right-wing radio and cable TV shows, all the way to Capitol Hill.

Look back to Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress last week and South Carolina Republican Joe Wilson's crude "you lie" shout. Witness the boorish behavior in the GOP seats.

They are an inspiration to Obama-haters.

It's not just those calling on God to harm the president who cause worry.

The day after Anderson's "I Hate Barack Obama" sermon, Chris Broughton, a member of Anderson's congregation, appeared at Obama's speech in Arizona with an AR-15 and a pistol - not to harm the president, Broughton said, but to exercise his constitutional right to have weapons.

Then there are walking time bombs.

Richard Poplawski of Pittsburgh hated Jews, feared Obama was scheming to take away his guns, and thought Obama got good press because he was Black. In April, Poplawski fatally shot three police officers and wounded a fourth when they showed up at his house in response to a 911 call. Then there's George Sodini, who went to a Bridgeville, Pa., health club in August and shot and killed three women and wounded nine others. Sodini wrote of Obama: "The liberal media LOVES him. Amerika has chosen The Black Man."

OK, now let me have it: "King, you're generalizing, making a big story out of small, isolated examples. People like Anderson, Broughton and Drake, and shooters Poplawski and Sodini, are kooks, representing no one but themselves. Most people who oppose Obama don't want him dead. They wish him and his family no physical harm." I won't argue with that.

What I will say, however, is that a lot of malicious words have been thrown around about Obama since his election: words that inflame and that inspire the kind of hatred spewed from those Arizona and California pulpits.

Do the Andersons and Drakes have a right to say they hate Obama and want him to die? Yes. Did Poplawski and Sodini have a right to trash the "liberal" press? Yes.

Still, the depth of the hostility is extraordinary.

If the president of the United States ever needed heartfelt prayers, it's now.

If You Convert You Die

By: Nonie Darwish
FrontPageMagazine.com

Very few people in the West know what is going on inside the Muslim world and what it portends for them. The fact is that through the dominant media, such as CNN, Americans are subjected to much of the same misinformation with regard to Islam that I grew up with inside the Muslim world. The result is that Americans are in the dark attempting to formulate their strategy of how to defend themselves against the threat of terror, domestic jihad and Sharia. While Americans get ridiculed for being “Islamophobes,” the Muslim world itself is undergoing a huge and painful awakening.

For instance, a prominent Egyptian lawyer and women’s rights activist, Nagla Al Imam, recently announced her conversion to Christianity in Cairo, Egypt. The announcement brought shock waves in and beyond Egypt. This is perhaps the first case ever of its kind, where a Muslim woman, who is also a Sharia expert, has openly challenged Islamic apostasy laws from within the Muslim world.

Ms. Al Imam’s incredible courage was on display in an internet chat room, where she announced that she is not afraid, will stand up for the human rights of apostates and refuses to leave her homeland, Egypt. This was immediately followed by attacks and calls (‘fatwas’) for death of the 36 year-old graduate of Al Azhar Islamic University.

Egyptian media not only reported the threat but also participated in the attacks. Ms. Al Imam was literally entrapped by a TV station ‘Al Mihwar’ with the pretext of inviting her for an interview. Upon arrival to the TV studio she was told the show she was to appear on was cancelled. She was then taken forcibly to a room where she was held against her will for hours inside the studio. She was assaulted, threatened and insulted by several people. She was able to escape, and went to her internet chat room telling the world what happened and said she will demand protection from the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Such action is common not only against apostates but anyone who deviates from the dictates of Islam or demands reform. Many Muslim journalists, intellectuals and feminists who consider themselves Muslims but are critical of Sharia are often intimidated, threatened or even killed for the slightest independent views using the apostasy card to keep them quiet.

Another recent case in Egypt is that of a brilliant intellectual by the name of Sayed Mahmoud El Qemany. He was recently accused of apostasy even though he denied it on TV and insisted he is still a Muslim. But fatwas of death were immediately issued against him. Mr. El Qemany recently wrote the following:

“I was granted the State Award for Social Sciences, on June 25th 2009. The hard-line radical militant groups considered that the state has adopted this intellectual secular trend

officially, infuriating the mentioned group which called on the State to withdraw the prize with the declaration of my defection from Islam and excommunication which means in our country, I could be slain; any citizen is allowed to kill me and be awarded by God in Paradise. The following parties have participated in the statements of atonement:

1 - Al-Azhar Scholars Front headed by Yahya Ismail Habloush, which issued the first statement of atonement on July 10, 2009.

2 – The Islamic Group (condemned terrorist group) issued a statement of atonement on July 10, 2009.

3 - The Muslim Brotherhood hailed the atonement, and were presented at the parliament by Hamdi Hassan requesting the withdrawal of the award and the declaration of religious-defection and excommunication on July 7, 2009. The Muslim Brotherhood also declared my excommunication on Mohwar Channel on July 11, 2009 and on Al Faraeen Channel on July 13, 2009.

4 - The Salafi (Fundamentalist) Group (condemned terrorist group) dedicated its Internet site named "The Egyptians" for excommunicating me and incitements to kill me, since the date of obtaining the prize until today.

5 – Al Nas channel, which represents the theoretical side of bloody terrorism which declared excommunication and demanded “all citizens who can” to kill me immediately, on July 24 and 25, 2009.

6 - The Hisbah Sheikh Youssef Al Badri in Egypt declared on the channel "ON TV" on July 3, 2009 that I have cursed God and the Prophet Mohammad in my books even though I have challenged him and others to refer to a single text written by me where such claims were made. Due to this proclamation, he has issued an incitement to kill me.

7 - A member of the Al-Azhar scholars, Sheikh Mohammed El Berry, on Mihwar TV Channel on July 11, 2009 announced my atonement as he also said that he did not read any of my writings since he does not read "garbage”. He repeated the same words on the channel "ON TV" on July 22, 2009.

8 - Sheikh Ali Gomaa, the former Chairman of the “State Religious Affairs Advisory Board”, issued a statement declaring my infidelity and calling for slaying me for "insulting the Prophet of Islam, the God of Islam” on July 24, 2009.

9 - The Sheiks of more than 5000 mosques on Friday prayers on July 24, 2009 declared the incitement to kill me, especially in my hometown, which led to the rampage against my family and relatives, and that could possibly evolve to some serious consequences in the coming weeks.

Due to the above, I call upon the conscience of all humanity in the free world to come to me and my children’s rescue by providing moral support and the condemnation and denunciation of the radical thinking with quick solutions to save us from the danger that is luring around us. This is a distress call to all bodies and individuals. A call to the consciences of every free individual in the world.

Signed: Sayed Mahmoud El Qemany- Researcher.”

In spite of the cover up, this is perhaps the first time in the history of Islam that Muslims finally have access to the truth about their own religion, thanks to the Internet and satellite dishes (invented by infidels). There are daily news reports of heart-broken Muslims who say they cannot believe what is written in Muslim scriptures and say that Muslims have been living under the greatest lie in human history. Others simply deny and say that it can’t be so. While Saudi Arabia is spending billions to Islamize the West, many Muslim prisoners of Islamic submission are dying or leaving the religion quietly.

The relatively few number of Muslims who dare to convert to Christianity do it in extreme secrecy. That is because the penalty for leaving Islam is death in all schools of Sharia, both Sunni and Shiite. Those who wrote Sharia centuries ago knew that keeping Muslims in total submission would be very difficult to maintain, and thus they established barbaric laws condemning Muslims to death for exercising their basic human rights to choose their own religion. Sharia never entrusted its enforcement only to the formal legal system. Islam promises heavenly rewards to individual Muslims who take the law into their own hands. Sharia also states that the killers of apostates and adulterers are not murderers and therefore are not to be punished. That is why, for Islam to achieve 100% compliance to Sharia enforcement, Muslim individuals are encouraged to take matters into their own hands.

The end result is a chaotic society where everything happens behind closed doors but at a very heavy price to interpersonal relationships. Fear and distrust of others exists in all Muslim societies. Muslims are not just distrustful of the West, but they are distrustful of one another. In Muslim society, people are often more afraid of their neighbors and family members than of the police. Thus, we see husbands or fathers pressured to apply Sharia by killing an adulterous wife or daughter, or a perfect stranger participate in the killing of an apostate in the public square. Very few get arrested or punished for such crimes across the Muslim world. The ingenious Sharia uses vigilante street justice to bring about Islamic submission. That is why civil unrest and honor crimes go wherever Islam goes. The power of Islam comes from turning Muslim against Muslim -- with a reward in heaven.

The above two examples of Islamic tyranny are not unique to Egypt, but exist in all Muslim countries. Islamic tyranny is encapsulated in a law that some Muslims claim to be their religious right in America. Many American citizens who left Islam are living in constant fear from Islamist individuals and groups right here, in the land of the free and home of the brave. I am one of them.

Muslim Teen Who Converted to Christianity Says Family Threatened to Kill Her

An Ohio teenager says she ran away from home to Florida because her family threatened to kill her for converting from Islam to Christianity, local media reported.

Rifqa Bary, 17, testified Monday at a custody hearing in Orlando that she'd recently changed religions and is worried her relatives will do something drastic, according to WFTV in Orlando and Central Florida News 13.

"They have to kill me because I'm a Christian. It's an honor (issue)," the girl told WFTV.

Such threats are common, even in the United States, her attorney, Rosa Gonzalez, told News 13.

"She says her life is in danger and she could be killed in an honor killing," Gonzalez said after the hearing — which was held because the teenager's parents are trying to regain custody of her.

Rifqa, a non-citizen whose parents are from Sri Lanka, has for several weeks been staying with an Orlando couple who are pastors of a new Christian church there. She met them on a Facebook prayer group.

Her father denied his daughter's allegations to NBC 4 in Orlando, saying he never threatened to kill his daughter because she rejected Islam.

He was in Florida for a court hearing, but was reportedly traveling back to Ohio Tuesday.

The Florida Department of Children and Families currently has custody of her, but ultimately, Ohio authorities will decide where the teen should live.

Are We in the Final Generation? ~ Bible Prophecy Today

Are We in the Final Generation? ~ Bible Prophecy Today

By Hal Lindsey

It is difficult for me to deal with most people who write articles about the "Late Great Planet Earth". I am so fed-up with being mis-quoted about Matthew 24:34. So here is what I actually did say and what I meant about the passage of Matthew 24:32-34.

On page 54 of the LGPE, I wrote,
"What generation? Obviously, in context, the generation that would see the signs - chief among them the rebirth of the State of Israel. A generation in the Bible is something like forty years. IF this is a correct deduction, then within forty years or so of 1948, all these things could take place."
I underlined the subjective mood of the statements to emphasize that I DID NOT say "all these things will take place within 40 years of Israel's rebirth." All of the qualifications I gave in this passage were designed to convey that I was by no means certain of the deduction. But who ever takes note of that. Most people that believe that I said Christ would return within 40 years of Israel's rebirth and that a generation could only be 40 years did not read my actual statement. I am shocked that even a friend like Tim LaHaye apparently did not read it.

In consequent studies, I have come to believe that I missed a very important word in this verse that gives perimeters as to what kind of generation Jesus had in mind. It is the average life span of those who are in the generation to which He pointed. Jesus said,
"This generation will not pass away until all these things take place."
In other words, the generation that witnesses the coming together of all the signs given in the Olivet Discourse will not die before they are all fulfilled.

I believe we are in the generation that will live to see the fulfillment of the "birth pangs" that Jesus predicted would all come together in one time frame shortly before the Tribulations events that bring about His return. I have never believed that the precise day or hour could be known. But I do believe that Jesus commanded for us to know the general time. Otherwise, what was the point of giving signs that would indicate His coming was near? Jesus actually commanded us to learn the signs of His return by commanding us to learn the parable of the fig tree. In Matthew 24:32, Jesus said, "Now learn the parable of the fig tree ..." The verb "learn" is in the imperative mood, which means it is a command, not something optional. Jesus continued,
"... When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see ALL these things, KNOW that it is near - at the doors."
The verb "know" or "recognize" is also in the imperative mood in the Greek, which means it is a command.

In summary, just as the first leaves of the fig tree indicate that the general time Summer is near, even so the appearance of all the predicted signs in concert within one time period appear, it indicates that the general time of Christ's coming is near. And we are all commanded to "recognize" that His coming is near by the imperative mood verb of this Scripture.

I believe the signs I wrote about in the Late Great Planet Earth are still valid. In fact, more so now than ever.

Will the Iran Revolution Fail?

Subject: Will the Iran Revolution Fail?

Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 7:15 AM

The Iranian revolution unfortunately will probably fail because the of the complete misunderstanding of the Middle East mindset.

This has caused foreign policies of the West that have been based on a false premise, serving its so called perceived interests that also encompass UN corruption, stability of oil supplies and a failure to understand the domination of Islam in the Middle East.

George W. Bush’s policy of encouraging democracy in the Middle East was well intended but misguided and the current policy of appeasement by President Barack Obama while at the same time deliberately finding problems with a real democracy and ally Israel is equally flawed.

The West has had two main issues with the Middle East that it always fails to understand through a combination of greed and ignorance of the Islamic culture.

The Arab and especially the Islamic culture are based on pride and shame.
Islam shuns freedom and democracy;

Sharia law is all encompassing in the Middle East and cannot be compatible with a free open democratic society

Islam is a political and constitutional government subservient to no other government system.

Its objective is world domination like Nazism but worse because God told them to do it, not Hitler.

The Western government foreign ministries and the US State department have always chosen to ignore there own so-called values (freedom and democracy) when coming to do business with Middle Eastern leaders

We hypocritically are willing to ruin the environment in the Middle East but here in America we feign environmental responsibility by vilifying oil companies and stop them for drilling and the exploitation of fossil fuels.
America could easily be self sufficient in energy as well as pursuing better environmental alternatives, which in effect would strengthen our moral positions when it comes to dealing with Middle Eastern tyrants.

Oil companies have also played an immoral card too but that is for another article.

So what is the best policy to solve the Middle East problem?
It is very easy, ignore and isolate them.

Because we depend on their oil we currently cannot ignore them but must engage and continue to patch our relationships with questionable allies and we reason with our enemies which now is President Obama’s new policy.

So we must do the opposite and start now to be serious about developing our own sources of fossil fuels which we definitely have and at the same time develop technologies of alternatives energy, as well as technologies that use existing fossil fuel supplies more efficiently.

If we were self sufficient in fossil fuels we could tell the Saudis to whistle Dixie, provide unqualified support for Israel our ally, without having to accommodate “the Palestinian propaganda lie, ” which we do in order to curry favor with the Arab tyrant.

For the potential revolution in Iran to succeed with a more friendly government to the US and the West, as well as a dismantling of their desire to acquire nuclear weapons is a potential windfall to save Israel and the US from a military confrontation;

this can only succeed with major united stand from the Western leaders. Unfortunately the US administration is failing to take the opportunity to exploit fully the overthrow of the mad Mullahs of Iran.

Just like George Bush Senior who formed a coalition of nations outside the UN to defeat the Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War, so should the current president form a large coalition of countries

willing to place major diplomatic pressure on the Mullahs to step down and to even place troops from the USA on Iraqi boarder as well as Afghan border which will alarm the Mullahs.

A major gambit is now required that the political climate in Iran dictates.

Unfortunately the US government will appease and stand off allowing the Mullahs to crack down on the protestors who will give up in a few weeks when the West

as usual fails to take advantage of the situation and we return to the game of chicken with President Ahmajinadad.

The weakness of the West compares exactly to the 1930s.

We will suffer great long term repercussions based on our failure to act upon this opportunity.

Fear to act boldly always emboldens the enemy to be even more aggressive., any student of history can tell you that.

Does Israel Have Rights?

By Hal Lindsey

At a time when President Obama is trying to force Israel into a disastrous agreement with the Palestinians, who will not even agree that Israel has a right to be a State, it is time for Christians to speak out. The nations are sacrificing Israel in order to keep secure the favor of their oil-supplying Muslim oil barons. Last week, the UN Foreign Policy chief, Javier Solana, went a step too far. He had the audacity to propose that the United Nations unilaterally declare a Palestinian State. That is a complete betrayal of the founding purposes on which the UN was created.

I believe that Israel has the right to build anywhere in greater Israel. The Muslim nations of the Middle East attacked them in June 1967 in an effort to annihilate them. Israel begged Jordan, who controlled the West Bank and Jerusalem, not to join the other Muslim forces and promised them that they would not attack them. Jordan did and Israel quickly defeated them and captured the West Bank and Jerusalem. So since then, the so-called West Bank and East Jerusalem has been part of Israel by right of self-defense and conquest.

This same right of ownership by conquest underlies virtually every Nation in the world today. If you will trace back to their beginning, every Nation was founded upon land gained by conquest. The United States of America certainly is founded on that premise. We took land from the Indians, Mexicans, French and English. And we have the unquestioned right to keep it. So do the Israelis.

However, there is a different set of rules the world wants to force upon Israel. In the case of the U.S. in particular and the Western Nations in general, we are presently much more concerned about keeping the oil supplying Muslim oil barons happy than we are about backing Israel's just rights as a sovereign nation. And this is before we even get to the issue of their solemn God-given Covenant in which God gave them the title deed to specific land to which He has returned them from a worldwide dispersion according to His promise.

Israel is the only nation on earth that has a title deed to their land from the Creator. And the Creator has sworn on oath that He will see that a believing remnant of Israel will have a nation on this land forever. And God has warned that all peoples that try to take it from them will be destroyed. These are promises that are in many passages of the Word of God - not just in a few. So President Obama beware - as well as all the Muslim nations seeking to annihilate Israel!

For the LORD has sworn:

Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His name): " If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the LORD, THEN THE SEED OF ISRAEL SHALL ALSO CEASE FROM BEING A NATION BEFORE ME FOREVER. Thus says the LORD: " If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the LORD." (Jeremiah 31:35-37)
Since the sun, moon and stars are still in their prescribed orbit and purpose, I declare Israel still has the right to exist as a Jewish State. Selah!

ABC TV USA: 1st ever Khilafah Conference USA (2009) News report piece

The call for jihad and seditious takeover of the United States by Islam was made loud and clear yesterday in Chicago. The fundamentalist Islamic political party known as Hizb ut-Tahrir (America), or HTA, hosted a conference at the Hilton Hotel in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn yesterday. The attendees, dressed in traditional Muslim attire, were segregated by gender according to the oppressive tenets of fundamentalist Islam. The women in attendance were covered from head to toe in fundamentalist Islamic attire, sat away from the men during the presentations.

Fate of the Muslims

By Dr. David R. Reagan

What is the fate of the Muslims as it is revealed in end-time Bible prophecy?

Let's consider for a moment the fate of the Muslims as it is revealed in End Time Bible prophecy. The Bible prophesies that God will pour out judgment upon the Arab nations in the end times for their hostility towards the Jews and their attempt to claim the Jewish homeland as their own.

Consider Joel 3:19 for example, this passage has a clear end-time context and in that context it says, "Egypt will become a waste and Edom will become a desolate wilderness because of the violence done to the sons of Judah in whose land they have shed innocent blood." Keep in mind that "Edom" is often used as a symbolic term for all the Arab peoples, just as "Israel" is used as a term for all the Jewish tribes.

Ezekiel says that all of Edom will be dealt with in the end times because of its hatred against the Jews and its lust for their land. The result will be the desolation of the Arab states.

The book of Obadiah prophesies a similar fate for Edom in the Day of the Lord. Part of this destruction is going to take place in the wars of Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38, most likely before the Tribulation begins. Psalm 83 indicates that Israel will defeat the inner ring of Arab nations that have a common border with it. Ezekiel 38 states that God will supernaturally destroy the outer ring of Arab nations that will invade Israel under the leadership of the Russians.

But, these wars affect only the nations in the Middle East. The vast majority of Muslims live in nations outside the Middle East. I believe the Muslims in other parts of the world like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Indonesia will taste the wrath of God at the beginning of the Tribulation when they refuse to accept the European Antichrist. They will become the focus of the Antichrist military actions to subdue all the world to his authority. The book of Revelation states that one-fourth of humanity will die in the initial military campaign of the Antichrist — that is one and a half billion people in today's terms! Then we are told the war will expand into what appears as a nuclear holocaust and during this second phase one-third of those remaining will die. That is another one and a half billion! So, a total of three billion people are going to be killed in the wars of the Antichrist during the first half of the Tribulation. I believe that most of these will be Muslims.

But, the future of the Arabs is not all bleak. They must suffer for their sins, just like the Jewish people will suffer during the Tribulation. And like the Jews, we are told in Jeremiah 12 that a remnant of the Arabs will emerge from their suffering with their hearts turned to the one and only true God. The Bible says in Zechariah 2:8, "that the Jewish people are the apple of God's eye." But, that does not mean that He has no love for their cousins the Arabs. Just as God has covenants with the Jews, He has a covenant with the Arab peoples. It can be found in Genesis 16 and 17. In this covenant God promised to make the decendents of Ishmael (the Arabs) a great nation and to give them all the land to the east of their Jewish brethren. God has been faithful to those promises. Today there are 22 Arab nations with a combined population of over 300 million people. The Arabs occupy a total area of 5.3 million square miles of oil rich land. By contrast, there is only one Jewish state with a population of only 5 million Jews who are squeezed into only 8,000 square miles of space. That is a population ratio of 58:1 and the land ratio of 662:1! The Arabs have truly been blessed.

There is no partiality with God. He chose the Jews not to be a repository of His blessings, but to be a vehicle through whom He would bless all the nations of the world, including the Arabs. But, the fundamental requirement to receive God's blessings for both Jew and Arab as well as all people is to accept God's gift of love in Jesus by receiving Him as Messiah.

When I consider the blessings that God has given the Arab peoples and the grace He is going to show them in the future despite their persecution of His chosen people, I am reminded of what Paul wrote when he considered God's grace towards his Jewish brethren. He cried out from his heart, "Oh the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God, how unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways."

Purging the Memory of our Christian Roots How America lost its way and freedom

by Berit Kjos

"‘Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past,' repeated Winston obediently."[1] George Orwell's 1984

"The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new - the rotting corpse of Christianity... and the new faith of humanism."[2] The Humanist

"...a reconfigured collective memory will also allow individuals to see their personal experiences differently and place events... in a new matrix of meaning."[3] Memory and Power in Post-war Europe

"As the memory of the Christian base grows ever dimmer, freedom will disintegrate.... The [old] system will not simply go on, divorced from its founding roots."[4] Francis Schaeffer, How Should We Then Live

"If you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods... you shall surely perish...." Deuteronomy 8:19

My favorite book as a child was a Norwegian translation of an old British book titled "The Wide Wide Word." It tells about a young girl sent to live with a distant aunt after the death of her mother. Since Ellen had already learned to trust Jesus, she knew He was with her in the midst of her dark and lonely surroundings. She saw His love in amazing ways -- especially through a kind young woman who uses every painful hurdle in Ellen's early life to point her to God's ever-present comforts.

Since my family rarely mentioned God in those days, this book opened my eyes to His loving sovereignty. It became my life-line to His special strength during Norway's post-war years. And when we moved to America, it was the main treasure I brought with me.

Such books may soon be forgotten -- banished by a law that prohibits the sale of children's books published before 1985. The justification for such an outrageous decree is that the print might contain a tiny amount of lead. Testing books for lead is prohibitively expensive. According to an article titled, The New Book Banning,

"no one seems to have been able to produce a single instance in which an American child has been made ill by the lead in old book illustrations—not surprisingly, since unlike poorly maintained wall paint, book pigments do not tend to flake off in large lead-laden chips for toddlers to put into their mouths."[5]

Could political goals have prompted this specific ban? I don't know. [see note] But if I were a postmodern change agent, I would want to hide old books that refresh young minds with moral absolutes and the unadulterated memories of our historical roots. Truth and freedom are incompatible with today's evolving standards for global solidarity.

Today's Christian books are different. Actual Scriptures are usually missing, and new marketing schemes have led even Christian publishers to adapt their books to postmodern demands. Since entertainment is vital to sales, their new children's books often show silly images of our holy God -- designed to amuse, not show reverence. We seem to have forgotten God's admonitions:

"I will not let them profane My holy name anymore." Ezekiel 39:7

"You thought that I was altogether like you; but I will rebuke you." Psalm 50:21

Changing our Memories

Nothing speeds America's memory loss faster than its spreading boundaries for Biblical truth. And it's no accident that today's emphasis on politically correct tolerance rarely applies to Christians.

Like Obama's Faith-Based Partnership, our schools and colleges are silencing "faith-based" expressions. So when little Sallie wanted to tell her friend about Jesus, the principal scolded her. When Antonio included a small drawing of Jesus in an Earth Day picture (after all, He made the earth) the bewildered kindergartner faced humiliation. Do you wonder what happened to their free speech?

When Christian words are confined to homes and churches (or dismissed altogether), they soon fade from public awareness. Francis Schaeffer, founder of L'Abri, saw coming amnesia more than thirty years ago. In How Should We Then Live, he describes the consequences:

"As the Christian consensus dies, there are not many sociological alternatives. One possibility is hedonism, in which every man does his own thing. Trying to build a society on hedonism leads to chaos....

"In the days of a more Christian culture, a lone individual with the Bible could judge and warn society, regardless of the majority vote, because there was an absolute by which to judge. There was an absolute for both morals and law. But to the extent that the Christian consensus is gone, this absolute is gone as a social force."

"Much of the church is no help... because for so long a large section of the church has only been teaching a relativistic humanism using religious terminology."[7]

Why didn't we notice it sooner? What are the consequences of such blindness? Shaeffer explains:

"We see two effects of our loss of meaning and values.... [First] degeneracy, decadence, depravity, a love of violence for violence’s sake.... [Second] Society cannot stand chaos. Some group or some person will fill the vacuum."

"At that point the words left or right will make no difference. They are only two roads to the same end. There is no difference between an authoritarian government from the right or the left: the results are the same. An elite, an authoritarianism as such, will gradually force [a totalitarian] form on society so that it will not go on to chaos.... And most people will accept it... That is just what Rome did...."

"Will the West be able to stand against the totalitarian nations now that the Christian base of the Western freedoms is largely gone? Obviously this could be related to... the possibility of economic breakdown in the West."[8]

Writing new Rules for the Global Community

"Let us remember," wrote Francis Schaeffer, "...Hitler was perfectly entitled to do as he wished, if he had the popular support."[9]

Hitler did have the needed support. His rousing oratory persuaded the masses, and his brutal paramilitary "Brownshirts" quenched opposition. His pragmatic orders and Darwinian values became the new absolutes. "On this basis," continued Schaeffer,

"it would become 'right' to kill the old, the incurably ill, the insane -- and other groups could be declared non-persons. No voice could be raised against it."[9]

Could that happen here? Yes! When nations ignore Christian values, life becomes cheap and expendable. Consider the new Oregon Health Plan:

"The plan ranks various surgeries and diseases and conditions in order of importance and places abortion high on the list.... 'the rapid and complete treatment of medically correctable problems and diseases' are now lower."[10]

President Obama’s stimulus bill is even more alarming. In an article titled, "Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan," we read:

"Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system.... One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and 'guide' your doctor’s decisions. ... Hospitals and doctors that are not 'meaningful users' of the new system will face penalties.

"'Meaningful user' isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose 'more stringent measures of meaningful use over time.'... In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the 'tough' decisions elected politicians won’t make....He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept 'hopeless diagnoses' and 'forgo experimental treatments,' and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system."[11]

Few books illustrate this materialistic view of human life more vividly than the popular classroom novel, The Giver, winner of the 1994 Newbery Medal. It immerses sixth graders into a totalitarian world where children are born to professional "birth mothers." The newborns are placed in Nurturing Centers where older children help care for them during their mandatory service hours. To free the community from stress, handicapped babies and low-weight twins are "released" to go to a mystical "Elsewhere."[12]

At age twelve, Jonas and the other "young adults" receive their permanent service Assignments from "Elders" who observe and assess each child. Jonas, who had intuitive power to "see beyond," is chosen to be the Receiver of Memories -- the only one who would actually know the past. The previous Receiver now becomes the Giver, who transfers all past memories to the boy. Eventually, Jonas would become the community's only source of historical information.

The Giver fits into the flood of classroom literature that forces children to think the unthinkable, dialogue [see dialectic process] with their classmates, and re-evaluate the Christian values they learned at home. Dismissing the past, this book suggests a "safe" and benevolent future -- an Orwellian "common good" that brings unthinkable "common" restraints!

Such "common good" means government surveillance and control over everything -- health, attitudes, beliefs, values, parenting and work assignment.[13] Yet God still reigns!

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine...? [In] all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:35-37

Redefining "Christian" in a Postmodern context

Our president calls himself a "Christian." But what does that word mean in today's diverse culture?

When people forget God's standard for truth and error, how do they define "Christian"? In the light of current cultural standards, a good "Christian" would apparently have to believe in a universal "God" and be tolerant (toward all that conflicts with God's guidelines), accepting, always ready to compromise for the sake of an illusive "common good."

How does that view match the Bible? How does it fit Obama? Ponder his description of his faith in this 2004 interview with Cathleen Falsani:

OBAMA: I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith.... On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.... I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people....

FALSANI: Have you always been a Christian?

OBAMA: I was raised more by my mother and my mother was Christian. ...a deeply spiritual person, and would spend a lot of time talking about values and give me books about the world's religions....

FALSANI: So you got yourself born again?

OBAMA: Yeah.... And I'm not somebody who is always comfortable with language that implies I've got a monopoly on the truth.... I'm a big believer in tolerance....

FALSANI: Do you have people in your life that you look to for guidance?

OBAMA: Well, my pastor [Jeremiah Wright] is certainly someone who I have an enormous amount of respect for.... I am a follower, as well, of our civic religion. I am a big believer in the separation of church and state.... I am a great admirer of our founding charter... and its resolve to prevent disruptive strains of fundamentalism from taking root in this country....

FALSANI: Do you believe in heaven?

OBAMA: Do I believe in the harps and clouds and wings? ...if I live my life as well as I can... I will be rewarded....

FALSANI: What is sin?

OBAMA: Being out of alignment with my values....

FALSANI: ...An example of a role model, who combined everything you said you want to do in your life, and your faith?

OBAMA: I think Gandhi is a great example of a profoundly spiritual man who... never slipped into intolerance or dogma."[14]

Looking ahead

As history repeats itself, the old crumbling foundations are replaced with flexible ideals, tempting illusions, and a bewildering scaffold of unthinkable controls. Typical of Marxism, America's new "freedom" is reserved for supporters of the system, not resisters. Even churches are touting heresies and "tolerating" immorality. No wonder we face uncertainty, chaos and temptations to conform!

Long ago, God warned us about such a time:

"...they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.... Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator...." Romans 1:18-25

"My people would not heed My voice.... So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, to walk in their own counsels. Oh, that My people would listen to Me...." Psalm 81:11-14

To those who do listen, God promises victory and peace -- even in the midst of the turmoil:

"Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
